On Nov. 1, the proud Grand Rapids, MI product headlines BKFC’s hugely anticipated premiere in his home state of Michigan as he takes on Zac Cavender (2-0) under the bright lights of the iconic Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort in Mt. Pleasant, MI.
“This is a moment of greatness. This is a legendary moment,” the charismatic Rodriguez says with a big smile.
“This is my time to put my stamp on the record books again. It’s an honor, and just unexplainable. To come from the BKFC prelims to the BKFC Main Event in my home state — let’s go!”
Rodriguez is 4-1 in the Squared Circle, with all of his wins coming by stoppage before the third round. In his most recent trip to the Squared Circle at BKFC 78, the fighter they call “Mohawk” made history with a jaw-dropping, three-second KO over the previously unbeaten Julio Perez — good for the fastest finish in the history of BKFC’s talent-filled cruiserweight division.
“I’m just scratching the surface; I’m just getting started,” Rodriguez offers.
“I told everybody from the beginning that I’m BKFC’s next $1,000,000 fighter, so now I’m turning it up another notch. You saw what I did with a six-week camp for my last fight, and I’ve got an even bigger headstart for this one.”
Rodriguez hopes a big win in November earns him a berth in BKFC’s game-changing $25,000,000 Baddest Man Tournament. He has big goals with the world’s fastest growing combat sports promotion, but he certainly isn’t looking past his homecoming matchup in Michigan.
“They’re really about to see me break the needle on the scale,” he says with a big laugh. “When they see the energy that Michigan feeds off of me, and the energy that I feed off of them, it’s going to be something that we’ve never seen or experienced yet.
“Michigan has some of the biggest fight fans on the planet,” he adds. “I think this event is going to be sold out within 24 hours.”
Rodriguez’s prediction for Nov. 1?
“It’s going to be Knockout of the Night or Fight of the Night,” he says. “There’s absolutely no doubt about it.”
